Resentment can weigh heavily on our hearts, stealing our peace and affecting our relationships. Holding onto bitterness often hurts us more than the person we struggle to forgive. Ephesians 4:32 calls us to forgive one another, just as God has forgiven us through Christ. Think of Joseph, who forgave his brothers after years of betrayal, choosing peace over bitterness. This Nightly Prayer for Releasing Resentment and Embracing Forgiveness is a reminder to let go of the burden of unforgiveness and find freedom in God’s grace.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)
Night Prayer for Releasing Resentment and Embracing Forgiveness
Merciful Father, I come to You tonight, carrying the weight of resentment in my heart.
Help me to release the bitterness I’ve been holding onto, and replace it with Your peace and love.
Teach me to forgive as You have forgiven me, extending grace even when it feels difficult.
Heal the wounds caused by hurt and restore my heart to wholeness.
Let Your love flow through me, breaking down walls of anger and pain.
Grant me restful sleep as I embrace the freedom and joy that come from forgiveness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
